“You are authentically and beautifully enough. The moment you embrace that, it’s your superpower.”

A familiar story, told honestly
If you’ve ever chased a creative dream, you know the highs and lows: auditions, comparison, the internet’s constant opinions. Beth Keener—actress, host, and now a mental-health intern at Deepen—has lived it. After booking roles in well-known shows and thriving as a host, she made a courageous pivot: using her gifts for connection to support others’ mental health.
What changed everything
Beth shares a deeply personal turning point: the loss of her brother to brain cancer. Grief, paired with the natural volatility of the industry, brought mental health front-and-center. Therapy helped her heal—and lit a path forward. During the pandemic, while mothering a six-month-old, Beth felt called to return to school and train as a therapist.
“I realized the interviewing skills I love could be a superpower for good.”
— Beth Keener
Motherhood, meaning, and stepping away
Beth is candid: the joy she once found in on-camera work started to fade—especially after becoming a mom. She didn’t want to “half-do” either calling. Choosing one with intention led her here: supporting artists, actors, and creatives as they navigate rejection, inner critics, and the pressure cooker of social media.
What good therapy can look like
Beth reminds us therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some people want practical tools and homework; others want deep listening and presence. What matters most is the therapeutic alliance—fit, safety, and trust. Together, you define goals (from building healthier habits to processing grief) and work in ways that honor the whole person.
Practical tools actors can use now
Beth loves actionable support. One favorite DBT skill she shares is the PLEASE acronym—a daily self-care foundation that keeps your “instrument” (mind + body) in tune:
- PL – Physical health/illness: get care for medical needs.
- E – Balanced Eating.
- A – Avoid mood-altering substances if they dysregulate you.
- S – Sleep (aim for 7–8+ hours).
- E – Exercise for mood regulation.
Add these human basics to creative life, and everything else gets more doable.
Community is medicine
Auditions and self-tapes can be isolating. Beth is passionate about process groups for actors and creatives—confidential spaces to normalize the roller coaster, practice mindfulness and coping skills, and build real community. In tough moments, having support already in place can be the difference between spiraling alone and getting grounded quickly.
“Nobody can thrive in a vacuum. We all need to feel seen, supported, and connected.”
— Beth Keener
