About Our Yoga Informed Therapy Treatment
Yoga-Informed Therapy supports nervous system regulation, embodiment, and emotional healing through gentle movement and breath-based practices.
The word “yoga” means union—and in yoga-informed therapy, we aim to bring together breath, body, and awareness to support the healing process. At Deepen, we integrate evidence-based techniques with yoga’s ancient wisdom to support clients in cultivating safety, regulation, and self-connection.
Yoga has been shown to support mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, and eating disorders.
Through intentional movement, breathwork, and mindfulness, clients can:
- Access the parasympathetic nervous system (a state of calm and safety)
- Gently release stored tension, emotions, and trauma from the body
- Reconnect to their inner world with clarity and compassion
- Deepen a sense of spiritual, emotional, and physical alignment
What is Yoga Informed Therapy?
In the practice of yoga, we join breath and movement. Connecting our bodies in a fully integrated way helps us enter our parasympathetic nervous system, a state of safety. Learning to regulate our nervous system in this way helps us slow down and feel calm, connected, refreshed, energized, social, and authentic. The poses, or asanas, in yoga can help us connect with deep parts of ourselves and release stored tension, memories, pain, and trauma. Intentionally using the asanas slowly to become more embodied is what yoga therapy is about. In yoga-informed therapy, we practice intentional, gentle movement to help release and activate parts of our inner knowing. Through the body, we can gently unlock stuck points and start to reintegrate our minds and bodies.
Dr. Tara Arnold’s Yoga-Informed Approach
In addition to her decades of education, training and advanced psychotherapy expertise, Dr. Tara Arnold is a certified RYT-200 and Reiki Master Level 3.
For her, yoga is a sacred space—one that fosters peace, presence, and a deeper connection to life. Her lived experience of incorporating yoga into her own healing and therapeutic work inspires the yoga-informed approach at Deepen.
Yoga-Informed Therapy is about more than flexibility—it’s about learning to slow down, listen within, and move through life with intention and grace.
